Healthy Homemade Pizza Recipe You Need to Try This Weekend


This was SUCH a fun and delicious recipe to make! It turned otu absolutely amazing, and the fact that it tasted to good and was so much healthier than store bought pizza made it worth it.

Now that we’ve got this recipe down, I can totally see us making a few of these at once, and storing them in the freezer for days we don’t want to cook!

Homemade anything is always amazing, and much healthier. So if you’re craving pizza but feel guilty ordering, try this recipe! It’s actually so easy, and the yeast-free dough turned out totally fine!

Step 1: Make the dough

We had looked up a ton of different recipes that contained yeast and they honestly intimated us. They seemed so complicated, and I’m not even sure yeast is all that great for you anyway. So we ended up kind of combining some yeast-free pizza dough recipes into our own concoction, and it turned out great!

Something we totally though made the dough was adding fresh herbs from out garden into it! You could actually see the small green flakes in it, and it totally added a delicious subtle flavor to it.

It’s also important to use good, high-quality olive oil, as the olive oil also adds flavor to the dough. Same with the salt. If you have sea salt or pink Himalayan salt, that’d probably be a bit more flavorful than your typical table salt.

Step 2: Make the Sauce

I was actually shocked at how easy the sauce was. I initally started to combine the ingredients over heat on a pan, then realized that was NOT what I was suppose to do. When you spread the sauce onto the dough, you don’t want it to be warm and runny. You want it to be cold and thick so it spreads and stays well.

I also believe that adding the fresh herbs to the sauce made a huge difference! The sauce was absolutely delicious! We had some leftover so we stored it in a ziplock in the freezer for next time!

Step 3: Add the Toppings

We topped our pizza with:

  • Freshly shredded parmesan
  • Freshly shredded mozzarella
  • Fresh basil
  • Pepperoni
  • Red onions
  • Spinach (placed underneath the cheese)

The Parmesan added an amazing salty flavor, and mozzarella adds the subtly cheesy-ness which is amazing. We also thought putting the spinach underneath the cheese was good because the leaves are kind of big so they kind of take over the toppings on top.

You can add whatever toppings you’d like, but this was what we did this time and it was incredible. Such an easy and fun recipe to make, I definitely recommend giving it a try!
